Bashundhara Industrial Complex Limited (BICL) was established on the bank of river Pashur on an area measuring 10 acres in the Mongla Port Industrial Area to produce different types of Portland cement. It has an excellent communication facility connecting all parts of the country through river and roads. BICL has started its operation in 2003.
The industry enjoys a unique facility in cargo handling both in receiving raw materials and in dispatching finished products through its own jetty suitable for berthing sea going vessels. 75 persons work in this complex of which there are 11 officers and 64 staff and workers. It runs in three shifts.
The project was planned and subsequently taken up for quick implementation at the back of ever increasing demands of quality cement in the middle and southeastern region of the country. BICL owns and operates a clinker grinding plant having a production capacity of 0.42 million MT per annum.
Considering the aspect of environmental pollution usually created by cement manufacturing plants, BICL has been equipped with necessary preventive measures.
Since inception BICL is actively contributing to the national as well as global economy by way of effective utilization of resource using raw materials, producing high quality product at most competitive prices and creating employment opportunity.
