The Bashundhara Group of Companies embarked on its journey as a real-estate venture known as "Bashundhara" under the aegis of the Group's first concern - The East-West Property Development (Private) Ltd. Success of this project encouraged the growth of trust and confidence of the urban people in "Bashundhara". Dhaka's mushrooming population, combined with a conspicuously slow growth and a scarcity of housing - led to the landmark success of "Bashundhara".
Bashundhara Group was motivated with the substantial success, which inspired us to broaden our horizons and invest in new fields, especially in manufacturing and trading sectors in the early 1990’s. Several enterprises involving the productions of tissue paper, paper and pulp, cement, steel, LPG bottling and distribution, trading company among many others were established. A non profit oriented foundation called Bashundhara Foundation that engages in social welfare and development activities was also formed. The foundation also works to educate the under privileged with a vision to build a skilled and educated generation for the country. This growth happened in less then 10 years.
During this period, additional schemes on land development and real estate were launched and these focused more sharply on increasing responsiveness to client needs.
