Bashundhara, Vision Care Foundation hold free eye camp

Hundreds of eye patients were treated by a team of ophthalmologists for free at a daylong eye camp on Banchharampur Sobhania Islamia Alim Madrasa premises under Banchharampur Upazila in Brahmanbaria on Tuesday.
Bashundhara Group and Vision Care Foundation in association with Bashundhara Eye Hospital & Research Institute organised the event.
Bashundhara Group Treasurer Moynal Hossain Chowdhury, also the publisher of the Kaler Kantho, Bangladesh Pratidin and daily sun of East West Media Group Ltd. (EWMGL), was present as the chief coordinator.
Prof Dr Md Saleh Ahmed, director of Bashundhara Eye Hospital & Research Institute, consultant Lt Col (retd) Golam Shahnewaz, consultant MA Khaleq and eye specialist Dr Anisur Rahman Sarkar conducted the camp.
Maulana Ruhul Amin, principal of Banchharampur Sobhania Islamia Alim Madrasa, M Chan Mia Sarkar, chairman of Accounting Department of Banchharampur University, Bashundhara Foundation manager M Mosharraf Hossain and engineer M Shafiqul Islam, among others, were also present on the occasion.
In his speech, Moynal Hossain Chowdhury said, “We are providing people from all walks of life with free eye treatment by holding daylong camps.”
“The eye patients who require operation will be sent to Bashundhara Eye Hospital,” he added.
Prof Dr Md Saleh Ahmed said they use sophisticated equipment to examine eyes of the patients.
“Cataract patients will be operated on by experienced eye surgeons free of cost at Bashundhara Eye Hospital,” he added.
A total of 800 eye patients had routine check-ups and received medicine at the camp while those who require further treatment, including cataract surgery patients, were referred to Bashundhara Eye Hospital.
